The Ugliest Thing to Say

Since we can't ignore the firestorm surrounding the remarks of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, although I would sure like to, let's get this out of the way bright and early:
Mr. Jackson’s words, which included a vulgar reference, were recorded by a live microphone on Sunday. His apology came after Fox News said it would broadcast the remarks on “The O’Reilly Factor” on Wednesday night.

“I don’t want harm nor hurt to come to this campaign,” Mr. Jackson said in an afternoon news conference in Chicago, after his comments were referred to throughout the day on cable television. He called his words “hurtful and wrong.”

Mr. Jackson, who sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988, has been a supporter of Mr. Obama. He has played no formal role in the campaign, but tensions have occasionally flared behind the scenes with Mr. Jackson, who is known for his outspokenness and his penchant for drawing attention to himself.

Mr. Obama’s candidacy has served as an example of a generational and stylistic shift in black political leadership in America. The remarks drew an unusually stern rebuke from Representative Jesse Jackson Jr., Democrat of Illinois, who also serves as a national co-chairman of Mr. Obama’s presidential campaign.

“Reverend Jackson is my dad, and I’ll always love him,” the congressman said Wednesday evening in a statement. He added, “I thoroughly reject and repudiate his ugly rhetoric. He should keep hope alive and any personal attacks and insults to himself.”

Jackson said "wanna cut his nuts off" because of his impression that Barack Obama has been talking down to black men.

Now, there's absolutely no place in our dialogue for that kind of thing. Jesse Jackson has effectively ended his relevance as an advocate and as a commentator--it's over, it's done. I don't want to hear from him anymore. I believe he should retire gracefully and not make any appearances for the rest of the year. It's a sad way to end a career in public life, but Jackson should simply admit that his mouth ended his career, not anything anyone has done to him.

The remarks themselves are more grudge than intention. Jackson has seen his influence diminish and his ability to stand in the spotlight reduced significantly because of his mouth and his ethical troubles. The sad thing is, the only reason he was on Fox News in the first place is because he doesn't have the appeal and the moral authority that he once had. He has been supplanted by many other talented and capable leaders, Obama being one of them but not the only one.

And one more thing--the Jackson incident is a damned good wake up call for anyone who appears on Fox News--don't do it. They recorded Jackson when he thought he was off the air and they gave that tape to Bill O'Reilly to maximize the damage and to amplify the shock. Fox News is a nasty, unprofessional operation that has nothing to do with the gathering of news and it does not operate in the public's interest. It is the partisan mouthpiece for the Republican Party, and no Democrat should legitimize it by appearing on their network.

A sorry showing

Faux News isn’t even trying to pass itself off as serious news anymore, so lets just call them what they are – the propaganda catapult for the Re-Thug-Lickers.

Yesterday was a really sorry showing for the fools at Faux. First, they showed video of John Conyers at a House Judiciary Committee meeting.

They imply it is video of the recently indicted Bill Jefferson, and the protesters in the gallery are calling for his resignation. We call bullshit - the "Resign" sign is being waived at Alberto "Fredo" Gonzales. But propagandists don't worry about a little thing like FACTS.

Then last night on the O’Reilly factor, Bill O flat-out LIED about the New York Times and the recently-foiled JFK Airport terror plot.

This is the front page of the Times that Bill O-LIE-ley chose to show.

And here is the full front page. Bill LIED. (And Think Progress has the video)

I guess he thinks that his viewers are such stupid sheeple that they wouldn’t actually look at the paper in question (and he is right, of course -they are if they are serious Faux watchers) but we keep an eye on the mendacious bastards, too. The idiots they cater to may be easily led about by the nose, but we call a moron a moron and a lying sack a lying sack. Bill O is a lying sack.

More Freezing out Faux

Senator Obama and Senator Clinton have joined John Edwards and withdrawn from a debate scheduled for September and hosted by Pravda Faux News.
The Sept. 23 debate, set for Detroit, is co-sponsored by the cable news network and by the Congressional Black Caucus Political Education and Leadership Institute.

Without Obama, Clinton and Edwards, however, Fox and the CBC institute would be missing three of the marquee contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination.

I, for one, am glad to see the Democratic party standing up and pushing back.

Now if Obama and Clinton just bring that fortified spine they have discovered to the Iraq War Resolution...

Freezing Out Faux News

For the second time in less than a month, John Edwards has taken a firm stand and said he would refuse to participate in a debate sponsored by Pravda Faux News.

The Edwards campaign said Friday that it would not attend the Sept. 23 debate sponsored by Fox News and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute. Officials said Mr. Edwards would participate in a debate sponsored by the institute and CNN.

“We believe there’s just no reason for Democrats to give Fox a platform to advance the right-wing agenda while pretending they’re objective,” said Jonathan Prince, the Edwards deputy campaign manager.

Think about it - Why the hell should the Democratic candidates all get together in one place, and then hand the mendacious agenda-whores at Faux a loaded gun? If Faux was a real news network, and not the officious mouthpiece of the Republican party, it would be one thing. But they are not. They are nothing more than shills for the right-wing agenda.

Good for edwards for standing up and showing leadership on this issue.

It's downright Presidential.

Brit Hume Just Called Me Out!

He specified me and all my friends! He cast aspersions on the "bloggers and other leftist elements of the party." That's us! FAUX is afeared of you and me!

I think we got their attention when FAUX got slapped down in the debate brouhaha in Nevada. Of course, that joke about Obama/Osama made by Ailes after Edwards pulled out wasn't a thumb in the eye or nuthin' and didn't indicate how a Democratic slate would be presented to the public. No not at all. *Fair and Balanced* and all that, you know.

But we are shrill and unreasonable for holding his Republican-propaganda-tool feet to the fire.

Well boo mother-fuckin' hoo. Cry me a river and play me a requiem. I've been right about everything for the last six years, while those mother fuckers have been wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. They haven't just been wrong though. They have also been bullying and overbearing, threatening those who dared oppose them.

So don't look at me to be all fucking civil and meek and mild about calling their useless asses on the carpet and pantsing 'em in public.

Of course, the fact that these asshats are talking about us is proof positive that we are here to stay, we are a force to be reckoned with, and they are going to have to learn to deal with the new era of accountability or get the fuck out of the way. We are smart, savvy and diverse, and we are changing the way politics is done.

Deal.

We're fucking political insurgents, and they can't beat us.

There are enough of us ants to pick the elephant carcass clean.

So just let me say this

Yo, Hume - Fuck you very much. I realize that it galls you that a bunch of low-lifes like us - and I'm waiving at a whole bunch of liberal bloggers like me (How the hell are ya Hill?) are treading on your sacred ground, you partisan shill, but you are just going to have to employ a coping mechanism or two. (Try a Xanax, a glass of good scotch and a sporty romp between the sheets, and next Sunday we would see a different affect on that dour mug.)

Anyway, not to gloat or anything, but my new years resolution was to stop pulling my punches with reich-wing fucktards, so let me bust out a hearty...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
