Sunday Morning Spiritual: atoning for missing last week

With a pair by the great Mahalia Jackson.

She has been prominent on the soundtrack in my head since I learned that domestic terrorist James Ford Seale had been convicted of murder and will spend the rest of his sorry life in prison. East Coast Jews who worked tirelessly for civil rights in the south in the early 60's - several of whom were martyred - loved this woman. January 27, 1972...our mirrors were covered for a week, as we sat Shiva for her.

She, too, was an influence in my life. One I am grateful for every day.

Say Amen.
