A Czar for Afghanistan?

You've got to be kidding me.

From Atrios:

John McCain just said he'd appoint an Afghanistan czar who would report directly to the president. Isn't there anyone either in the military or in a civilian position who, you know, sorta has that job already without having to be named a "Czar."

The answer is yes--and his name is General David Petraeus, CENTCOM Commander.

Do you think the Media--in all of their Mancrush Glory--will deign to point out that Senator John McCain just threw General Petraeus under the bus, backed up over him, drove over him again, and then left him there in the dust? If McCain thinks Afghanistan has gotten to the point where he needs to name a "czar," then he needs to promise to find a CENTCOM Commander who can replace Petraeus.

Unbelieveable.
