Fighting Liberals Kick Wingnut Ass Every Time

I want to caution you--this is so earnest, so over-the-top, so bland in its assertions and so wild-eyed and fraught with self-deluding self-importance, you'll probably have a stomach-ache when you're done reading it:

Things are indeed more complicated than a single bipolar axis. And you are right that few people want a purely libertarian system. I am among them. Here's where I stand:

In spite of the complexities of politics, there is a single axis that can be considered operative over the whole system. Forget the terms left and right, let's just say that at one end is an all-powerful state, and at the other end is no state at all. The "right" that I consider myself a part of is the right that believes that we should have a state that is just large enough to protect people's freedoms and rights, provide a reasonable level of security, and create an environment in which people are free to pursue their dreams, so long as they are not harming their neighbors in the process. That is an oversimplification of a complex issue, but that's where I stand, and that is where most of the people on my side---the people we call "conservatives"—stand. Pinochet allowed some capitalism, which was good, and he opposed the communists, which was good. Those things are both associated with my ideology. But a military ruler is not. There is nothing conservative, in my understanding of the term, in military dictatorship.

Put simply...

I am in favor of a reasonably small government that is limited in its coerciveness to the bare minimum required to create the climate I described above. I am in favor of free market capitalism. I am a classical liberal.

I oppose statism, an all-powerful government, severely reduced freedoms (even for some conception of a common good), and command economies.

Because of where the left comes down on both economic and governmental models, I oppose the left. Because of the way the left conducts itself across the globe, I oppose the left. Because wherever the left gets complete control, the result is slaughter, misery, and dystopia, I oppose the left. Because the Democrats in America have become increasingly associated with the left---and when added to their shameful slavery/segregation past—I oppose the Democrats.

The reason I do so so vigorously, with reference to metaphors like Thermopylae is this: the left does not play nice. It never has. It has no interest in compromise. That the Democrats are forced to compromise is because our system is brilliantly designed, and because they are a political party. But the ideology that seeks complete control over that party will never compromise. It never does. Two years ago, I would have agreed with you on all this "catch more flies with honey" stuff. but not now. I have learned too much. The ideology of the left must be destroyed...in all of its manifestations, in every corner of the globe, for all time. Not the people, mind you---the ideology. The people must be rescued, as I wrote here. Thanks, Herodotus. It's been great.

Admiring someone like Pinochet reveals you to be a raving psychopath. His goons tortured, dismembered, abducted, disappeared and killed human beings for no reason other than that they could do it--probably the sort of thing that gives you instant wood. You'd love to torture and kill, wouldn't you, because your powerlessness is what informs you. Actual facts don't work. Living in the real world doesn't work. You have nothing but whatever bland occupation you inhabit to inform you, and because of that, you have lived a worthless, meaningless life of self-indulgence and debasement.

What causes all of that death, starvation and strife you talk about is extremism; that is, the absence of political parties that work together and the implementation of "mob rule" and "criminal thugs" taking over and subverting the rule of law. When you say you want to be an extremist and admire Pinochet and destroy liberalism, you've already lost the battle of ideas and entered into a madness that goes beyond being a mere sociopath.

Who subverted the rule of law in America? The Bush Administration. Who has used fearmongering, intimidation, and lawlessness to get what they want politically? The Bush administration. Who launched an unnecessary war against a country that didn't attack us? The Bush administration. Who let an American city drown? The Bush Administration. Who has cut benefits for wounded Veterans and cut health insurance for poor children? The Bush administration. You confuse GREED with austerity.

Who has brought back into our national discourse a responsible debate on privacy rights, habeas corpus, the rule of law, a fair and impartial judiciary, better benefits for Veterans, health care for poor children, relief for people affected by natural disasters, better pay for the working poor, and help for people who are being thrown out of their homes? The Democrats. Who favors the ultra-rich and fucks over anyone who has to work for a living? The Republicans.

You are a man-child with no life experience who is fundamentally ignorant of American political history. You have found yourself clinging desperately to lies your ignorant ass couldn't be bothered to sort on its own and you've set up shop on a sheet of loose sand, thinking it to be the foundation of actual knowledge and fact. You've grasped a kernel of nothing, thinking it to be the island on which you will live a grand and fantastic life. All your life, you will rail against liberals and find yourself with nothing to show for it. You will blink your dead eyes and pound small, soft fists onto soft surfaces and reach for junk food and chemicals and try to make your pain go away. All your life, you will blame everyone except yourself, because if you ever do take a look at the ridiculous shit you publish on your ridiculous blog, you'll see yourself holding a screaming hot conflagration of bullshit and ignorance like a tattered jack-off rag.

Try and "destroy" me in any sense, literal or figurative, and I'll laugh in your fat little face, dude. And you will know me by the trail of your various body parts that I leave behind me.

The Alphonso Jackson Saga Continues

It's a downward spiral for America's worst HUD Secretary, ever:

After Philadelphia's housing director refused a demand by President Bush's housing secretary to transfer a piece of city property to a business friend, two top political appointees at the department exchanged e-mails discussing the pain they could cause the Philadelphia director.

"Would you like me to make his life less happy? If so, how?" Orlando J. Cabrera, then-assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, wrote about Philadelphia housing director Carl R. Greene.

"Take away all of his Federal dollars?" responded Kim Kendrick, an assistant secretary who oversaw accessible housing. She typed symbols for a smiley-face, ":-D," at the end of her January 2007 note.

Cabrera wrote back a few minutes later: "Let me look into that possibility."

The e-mails, obtained by The Washington Post, came to light as a result of a lawsuit provoked by HUD's decision last September to strip the Philadelphia Housing Authority of as much as $50 million in federal funds. In December, it declared the agency in violation of rules that underpin its ability to decide precisely how it will spend federal housing funds. Kendrick was the official who formally notified the authority that she had found it in violation.

HUD has argued publicly that this decision was not related to the demands by HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson that Greene turn over a $2 million vacant city lot to Kenny Gamble, a friend of Jackson's. HUD officials have said that Greene was not punished for his defiance.

Uh huh. In the real world, we call that bullshit.

On the date these e-mails were sent, HUD notified the housing authority that it had been found in violation of rules requiring that 5 percent of housing be accessible to disabled residents. The department later argued that because the authority refused to acknowledge it was in violation and to agree to a specific remedy, it was in violation of a broader agreement that put $50 million in federal funding in jeopardy.

This week, Greene sent copies of the e-mails to Sens. Arlen Specter (R) and Robert P. Casey Jr. (D) of Pennsylvania. Greene called the e-mails evidence of HUD's retribution for his refusal to give public property to Gamble. He urged the senators to demand that Jackson and his deputies explain their motives. Jackson is set to testify about HUD matters today before the Senate Banking Committee.

Casey said that he has "serious questions" about the e-mails and that "80,00 low-income Philadelphians deserve answers."

"This is the kind of stuff you read about in novels, not what you expect from government officials," Greene said in an interview. "It would appear they would carry out a vendetta against me even if it means damage to an entire city."

You can't make this stuff up. 80,000 poor people in a large American city are victims of one greedy, slimy, oily crony--and his name is Alphonso Jackson. He should never, ever be allowed to serve in a position of public trust again. He should never, ever get another chance to strip clean the dignity of his office and run a Federal agency like it's the back room of a precinct house in a corrupt, podunk town. Run him out of town on a rail, and and put him down as another example of why you ask serious, detailed questions in a confirmation hearing. As in, what are your qualifications and if you don't have any, please have the decency to withdraw your nomination.

I could sit here, sunup to sundown, and I could write thirty posts a day and, of course, my big sister Blue Girl would lap me and do 61 herself, and we couldn't even scratch the surface when it comes to accurately and thoroughly detailing the lawlessness and the petty, small-minded greed that we see from this Administration.

Time to give the devil his due

John McCain is on the receiving end of a lot of wrath and anger from those angry about the Air Force's new tanker deal that went to Airbus instead of Boeing. Boeing supporters in congress are directing their ire at McCain for his role in scuttling an earlier deal that would have clinched the deal for Boeing.

McCain called the earlier deal a textbook example of cronyism and corruption, and the courts agreed. Two officials went to prison over it.

Meanwhile, congresscritters squirm, and you almost feel sorry for them. Almost.

On the one hand, they are expected to bring home the pork for their district, and McCain took that away from quite a few of them...But on the other hand, how can they hammer him for taking on cronyism and corruption? Isn't that what we keep telling anyone who will listen that we want our politicians to do just that? Kinda hypocritical to get all peeved about it now that the chickens come home to roost.

But before you can muster any real sympathy for the poor dears and their dilemma, they go and open their mouths and you remember why you hate at least 532 of 535 members of congress with every fiber of your being.

I understand that jobs are important, but I hate hearing this sort of thing from Democrats. You don't turn a blind eye to illegality and corruption just because it provides pork. That congresspeople do so with reckless abandon and orgiastic glee is why congress consistently polls far below even the most unpopular of presidents. And it's stupid because the solution is so simple...Stop being two faced assholes if you want the electorate to stop hating you.

"I hope the voters of this state remember what John McCain has done to them and their jobs," said Rep. Norm Dicks, Washington Democrat, whose state would have been home to the tanker program and gained about 9,000 jobs.

"Having made sure that Iraq gets new schools, roads, bridges and dams that we deny America, now we are making sure that France gets the jobs that Americans used to have," said Rep. Rahm Emanuel, Illinois Democrat and a former Clinton White House adviser. "We are sending the jobs overseas, all because John McCain demanded it," Mr. Emanuel said.

I have lived more years of my adult life in Wichita than any other city. I understand the importance of Boeing in the big economic picture. But c'mon! It was greed and corruption that defeated the Boeing deal, and instead of ragging on the blind pig that came across a truffle for getting one right, blame the corrupt and greedy bastards that violated the public trust and ended up losing the whole deal in the process. It's on those jackals, not McCain.

I can think of a lot of reasons to oppose McCain with vengance and fury - but this ain't one of 'em. He didn't make those fuckers corrupt. They did that all of their own accord.
