Melanie Morgan Fired

[Melanie Morgan][h/t to Crooks & Liars]
Hey, it couldn't happen to a nicer person.

Melanie Morgan — the conservative radio talk show host who chairs Move America Forward, the group which has led efforts to shame and boycott Berkeley for its anti-U.S. Marine Corps recruiting stand — has lost her job at KSFO 560 AM.

Morgan, 51, delivered her final broadcast there today after 14 years at the microphone, she says in a news release. KSFO owner Citadel Broadcasting decided not to renew her contract as part of the company’s announced across-the-board financial cost cutting.

The ratings were terrific and I got to connect with a lot of passionate conservative casues, and I’m really grateful for that,” Morgan told me just now. “I don’t know what’s going to happen to the show, I don’t know what’s going to happen to KSFO.”

So KSFO fired her despite the fact that she was getting great ratings? If that we were really the case, then they would be following an interesting business plan by only getting rid of people who make money and bring in listeners.

Remember when Mel said this?

"What's clear to me is that this is a manufactured controversy by Media Matters for America, an organization that has been determined to take down conservative talk-show hosts for many, many years now." She added: "Rush Limbaugh is a man who is a truth-teller and one of the most effective communicators of our generation." Later in the segment, following co-host Sean Hannity's assertions that "they know this is a phony issue" and "[t]hey know the context in which Rush was talking," Morgan asserted: "This is what [right-wing pundit] Michelle Malkin has been writing about at her blog for a long time now. A number of soldiers who are fake or who are embellishers or who are posers, who go out there -- or soldiers like Jon Soltz of VoteVet.org [sic], who go out there and use their far-left, anti-American agenda, political agenda to undermine the real mission of our troops, our heroes who are out there, who are fighting in a hot war, who are fighting for our lives and for our security and safety."

I'm sure a whole lot of fake soldiers are happy to see her thrown out of her job in San Francisco. Sometime in the next two weeks, wingnut welfare will kick in and Morgan will surface somewhere, probably in a format where she can't drive away too many advertisers and cause others to have to work overtime to find sponsors to prop up right-wing hate speech.

I'm guessing that being banned from the NewsHour on PBS didn't help her much.
