Mauled by munchkins

It's like being attacked by a gnat - annoying, but harmless.

And diggin on the hits, too.

Thanks for the link!

UPDATE: Turns out, upon IP investigation, that those "anonymous" comments on the "Crazy Bitch" thread are mostly one mendacious troll - who was not smart enough to use John Doe as a handle by the way - and a couple of my blogging buds who are stirring the shit.

But hey - fuck with me fella - The Trolls IP #'s are
209.85.132.130
and

64.233.184.130

He is posting from Mountain View California - Zip code 94043

And as to those charges of "racism" that he is so fond of leveling...

Laughable.

I'm not prejudiced. I pretty much hate everybody.

I don't understand why you're "diggin on the hits".

Lemme 'splain it - not everyone is a deranged fraidy-cat who is clicking over.

Hell I wade into fever-swamps to keep an eye on you lot all the time. Not all of that traffic coming my way is from people who would throw me in Gitmo for having an opinion that runs counter.

I just find it even more funny that they are commenting anonymously. Shouldn't they be using "John Doe"?

:)

Bonus Chuckle: my verify word is "poodie"... that's funny right there!

Just goes to show - again - that we are smarter than they are!

Actually, it cracks me up that the pledge is taken in the name of John Doe. John Doe is the name of a fictional character who is conjured up by a fired female reporter in Frank Capra's 1941 film 'Meet John Doe.'

The reporter, upset about the loss of her job, publishes a fake letter in the paper from a "John Doe" who threatens to commit suicide to protest society's ills.

The populist, collectivist sentiments of John Doe cause a sensation with the public so the cynical publisher rehires the journalist played by Barbara Stanwyck.

Problem is the whole thing is a hoax, so the unethical female journalist and her even more unethical boss have to find a bum no one knows (Gary Cooper) to pretend he's John Doe to keep the hoax going. He's a sensation with the public and they start buying into his populist home spun persona and it becomes a populist political movement.

The female journalist falls for Cooper and all his lefty stuff.

It's perfect that Malkin goes for this John Doe thing, but if the movie isn't enough using the name John Doe should also remind us that the average person is not morally exemplary, but a morally fragile creature who can become quite brutal unless life is cushy and controlled by social and legal pressures. The banality of evil doesn't refer to average people being elevated, but to the everyday way average people allow evil to persist around them. Pledges and oaths can point these moral cretins in the right direction, but pledges of suspicion and hate just cement them into their naturally suspicious, backward way of dealing with others.

Wasn't it that "great American" (sic) G. Gordon Liddy who, when taking the oath to tell the truth before the Watergate Commission, answered "No?"

It was then I learned neocons always lie.

Swarmed by Malkinauts. Akin to being pecked to death by ducks. Toss 'em some bread, they'll go crazy. I find that a duck's opinion of me is influenced by whether or not I have bread. Much like women. Sorry, TMI.

Funny how Malkin's cheerleading of her "John Doe Manifesto" excluded half of the American population, you know, Jane Doe. I suppose that's a quibble yet it's telling about Malkin's readership... loser guys.

Interesting comment from dr x above on the fictional John Doe character. The choice of John Q. Public or Jane Q. Public would have been more appropriate but more difficult for an effective bromide and it would have required thoughtfulness from Malkin and her fellow wingnuts, something that's in short order for the ever-waning extremist minority.

Secondly, no one who is serious about sane political discourse includes Malkin anymore than they do Ann Coulter. They are both in the same class: They have none.

I posted below at your original post about crazy Malkin, BGRS, what the Virginian-Pilot out of Norfolk had to say about Malkin when they dropped her column... Here's the snip again.

Their readers "took issue with her [Malkin's] seemingly mean-spirited rantings and suggested that she be dropped."

And one of the Virginian-Pilot columnists wrote...

"I think [Malkin] habitually mistakes shrill for thought-provoking and substitutes screaming for discussion. She's an Asian Ann Coulter. I also think that, like Coulter, she says outrageous things just to get TV appearances and book deals. She's the worst of what's wrong with punditry today. She adds absolutely nothing to genuine political discourse."

Swat the gnat.

Remember when somebody at Drum's posted "Michelle Malkin is a cunt" a couple of years back? The entire right blogosphere went apoplectic - they were talking about that one silly comment for weeks.

For some reason the conservative punditocracy seems especially protective of Malkin - I guess they figure "Butch" Coulter can take care of itself.

Thank you bringing a smile to my face, both for the content of this post and the use of my word Trolletariat as a label. I am so proud of that word, and it is so nice to see its use spreading...:) Thanks.

Thank you, Scotian. You are one of my favorites too, and one of the main reasons I came out of the lurkers shadows and started commenting over there in our little on-line progressive community.

Thanks for the kind words...and for the coinage!

Are you serious??? I was one of the main reasons that you started actively commenting at PA?!? Wow, I never would have realized/thought that, I guess I don't see myself as having all that much of an impact, especially not as compared to people like Apollo 13, Stefan, PaulB, cmdicely, and all those that are so much better at finding and linking things into the conversation. All I am really good at is taking what is already generally known and trying to establish/discover the underlying patterns and dynamics and then share my perceptions. I am also a very long winded kind of writer/speaker which I see as one of my main drawbacks in the blogging world.

I'm sorry; you just blew my mind wit this. I cannot begin to tell you how much of a compliment that is that I played any role (let alone a main one) in bringing you from lurking to commenting (Were you blogging before the commenting or did that start as a result of the commenting?) I am incredibly honoured and pleased given what a great voice at PA let alone in the progressive blogosphere you have proven yourself to be, far better than myself IMHO.

It was around the time of the Terry Schaivo fiasco, and you wove a beautiful tapestry of words. And the rest is history. The blog started soon after, in a fit of pique at my juvenile offender of a governor.

A beautiful tapestry of words, what a nice way of describing my long winded style of writing. So it was the Schiavo incident eh? I was moderately incensed over that one wasn't I, and it was one of the issues that I was a major commentator over at PA also as I recall.

Thank you for letting me know this, there are times when I wonder if I am ever making any real difference with my writings. If all I end up having done is bringing your voice into the fight then I know I already have, and that matters a lot to me, thank you for it. It is also nice to know since one of the main reasons I write what I do is not for the other commentators in a thread or the blogger in question, but for those lurkers that may prefer only to read instead of joining the fray. I always figured I was likely going to have more impact on those that simply read and considered instead of those already so decided that they were already actively commenting. Thanks for confirming that.

Well, I have a long weekend to spend with my family, so have a good Easter weekend yourself and I will see you sometime early next week.

P.S. Would MsNThrope be a newer alias for one of the older aliases I might recognize? Seems like that person has some issues with me over whom I speak to when commenting and I do not understand it. So I am wondering whether I may have irritated that person under another/prior alias. If you do not know, or do not wish to say, that is fine, it is not a high priority for me, more a matter of curiosity than anything else. It is not like it is a problem, I mean if I can shrug of the collected harassment of the Trolletariat I can put up with someone that finds themselves disappointed in me because I don't talk/address to that person enough to suit them.
